Aloysius O'Brien Obituary
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Aloysius Mary O’Brien (Poppy Brien), in his 96th year passed away surrounded by his family on June 11, 2022.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years Madeline, his parents Thomas and Mary O’Brien, Brothers, - Bernard, Aiden (Edna), Austin (Sally), Louie (Catherine), Sisters- Irene, Sister Rosarie, Geraldine and his son in law Kenneth Power.
Leaving to mourn with heavy hearts are his 4 sons, Gerard – whom lived with him and looked after him his last 10 years of his life, Aiden (Vancouver), Sean & Hilda (Toronto) and Fabian (Ottawa). His two daughters, Judy (Tom) and Regina (Steve), who made sure he had everything he wanted and needed. Seven precious grandchildren – who he loved to see come for a visit. Jason (Marilyn, Ava, Carson), Christopher (Lesleigh, Kaine and Kylie), Gordon (Jasna, Luka and Novak), Shane (Melissa, Tyson, and Mylie), Kelly (Bruce, Khloe, Lauren & Madelyn), Sean (Kayla and Kelsie) and Scott (Mena). His Brother Ed (Helen), Brother In-Laws Joe Prim, Austin Melvin (Thelma), Sisters in Laws- Theresa Dinn, Mildred Bruff, Joan Dalton , Molly Thomas, Mina Melvin, Agnes Melvin , Gertie Melvin, Theresa Melvin, Glenda Melvin (Thunder Bay) Glenda Melvin (Vancouver) .
Sincere thanks to all his homecare workers over the years, especially Shirley Barrett, Betty Hawkins and Yvonne Colbert. Quality Home Care – Dianne Costello and her Staff, Michelle Rossiter (All the Public Health Nurses / Practitioners in Ferryland, Katie & Staff at Baltimore Pharmacy, His neighbors – Bernadette O’Brien, Ann Ryan, Dinnie & Mary Stratton and Aunt Joan. All his friends especially everyone who stopped by for a chat over the last few years.
Thanks to Ryan’s Funeral home, Cremation has taken place and a mass of Christian Burial will take place at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Cape Broyle at 11:00 am on Saturday July 23, 2022. Inurnment to follow at Our Lady of the Cape R.C. Cemetery, Cape Broyle. Following the cemetery, we invite everyone for a Celebration of Life at the Cape Broyle Community Hall.
