Andre Power Obituary
Passed peacefully away, surrounded by family, at Glenbrook Lodge on October 2, 2023, Andre (or Andrew as he was more commonly known) Power at age 83. Predeceased by his loving wife Lorraine (nee Stone); parents John Thomas and Frances; brothers Neil (Dorothy – deceased) and Brendan (Kay); parents-in-law Alex and Alice Stone; and other members of the Power and Stone families. Leaving to mourn his loss: son Alex (Elaine), daughters Andrea and Tina; granddaughter Aimee (Justin Greeley); grandsons Lucas (Nancy) Power and Nicolas Power (Laura Dillon); great-granddaughter Amelia Power; brother John (Marg) Power, sisters Winnifred (John Kennedy) and Annie Power. Also mourning his loss are many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends, especially Mary Hawkins and her family
Andre was a long-time employee of NL Light and Power up until he retired. In early life he enjoyed hunting, carpentry, and was an active member of his community. He enjoyed watching the Discovery Channel, a game of darts, a cup of Tim’s coffee with an old-fashioned plain donut and when his grandchildren were younger, he enjoyed watching them perform in any sports/events they were involved in often travelling across Newfoundland, Canada and even into the USA.
The family extends deep gratitude to the staff at Glenbrook Lodge and Alderwood Estates for the care and compassion shown to Andre over the last year. Thank you to Dr. Wade Mercer, Family Physician, and staff of Bay Bulls Family Practice for their compassion and professionalism over the years.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Michael’s. Inurnment to follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Tors Cove.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Andre’s memory may be made to the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery Committee – Tors Cove, c/o Bob O’Keefe, General Delivery, Tors Cove, NL, A0A 4A0.
