Barbara (nee Greene) Toms

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Barbara Toms (nee Greene) on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in her 96th year.

She was predeceased by her: first husband George, daughter Marlene, parents; Gus and Lena Greene, brothers: Walter, Harry and Charlie, sister Catherine and dear friend Cliff.

Left with beautiful memories of a wonderful woman are her daughter Mariel Anne (Allan), grandchildren; Jason (Lacey), Jennifer (Glen) and Marnie (Jesse), great grandchildren: Andrew (Shanelle), Daniel (Kyrstyn), Derek (Oscar), Jaron (Kaitlyn) with new addition in June, Jeana, Rhyis, Mariah, Clara, Georgie and Austin. Her loving sisters and nieces, who always kept in touch with phone calls, cards and presents.

Mom was born in Cape Broyle, grew up and worked in the post office for years, starting as a telegraph operator. She was a staunch supporter of the Legion, where she enjoyed bingos, dances, ticket sales and fund raisers. She never missed her grandchildren’s sporting events and award ceremonies. Mom loved the outdoors, camping in her motorhome and taking along the grandkids. She loved gardening, especially her roses and tomatoes.

Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation or formal funeral service. Mom has requested a family celebration of life in B.C. where most of her family resides. Burial will take place at Our Lady of the Cape Cemetery in Cape Broyle after our Celebration of her beautiful existence.
