It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Blaine Thomas Turner, who left us unexpectedly on July 24, 2024, at the age of 29, of Witless Bay, NL.
Blaine was born on April 20, 1995, in St. John's, NL, to his loving parents, Cynthia (Tobin) and Leslie Turner. He is also survived by his brothers Blair (Jenille), Brian (Mary Jane), and Brady (Melanie); his partner, Tamara Pye; Tamara's parents, Trudy and Bruce, and her sister, Shauna; his nieces, Juliet, Alyanna, and Ysabella; his nephews, Stephen and Jaxson; and many cherished family members in the Turner, Tobin, and Pye families, along with a large circle of friends.
Blaine was predeceased by his grandparents, Susan and Daniel Turner, and Loretta and Thomas Tobin; his uncles, Dan Turner, Pat Turner, and Kenny Tobin; aunt, Kathleen Goodine; and a special friend, Amelda Boland.
Blaine was a vibrant soul, full of life and kindness, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him. His passion for basketball was well-known, and he spent countless hours on the court with friends, where his energy and skill were unmatched. Blaine was a Monarch forever, a title he wore with pride, embodying the spirit and camaraderie of his team.
In addition to his love for sports, Blaine was an avid video game enthusiast. He was highly skilled and well-respected within the gaming community, often participating in tournaments and online forums. His strategic mind and teamwork made him a formidable player and a beloved member of his gaming circles.
Blaine's memory will be forever cherished, and his presence deeply missed. His life, though cut short, was filled with love and joy, leaving an indelible mark on those lucky enough to have known him.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Cemetery, Witless Bay on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024 at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited back to the Witless Bay Puffin Centre following the cemetery service to remember and share stories of Blaine’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA, St. John's, in Blaine's honor. His love for animals was evident in his deep bond with his beloved cat, Kraken, who will miss him immensely.
