Chris Melvin Obituary
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest husband, father, grandfather, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and dearest friend to many. Chris passed peacefully away in the early hours of November 25, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at the Dr. Leonard A Miller Centre in St. John’s, NL. He fought a great battle with cancer for the past 4 years. Chris was an avid and dedicated fisherman, who loved being out on the water and enjoyed taking others who wanted to go catch a feed of fish. Chris was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was always the life of the party and always had a big smile on his face.
Chris is predeceased by his father, Cyril Melvin Sr, grandparents John Thomas and Catherine Melvin, and Michael and Bridget Walsh, Father-in-law Joseph Power. He leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 26 years, Rhonda Melvin, daughters Miranda (Anthony) and Kerri-lynn, his two grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Carson and Arianna, his mother Mary Melvin, mother-in-law Marie Power, his only brother Cyril Melvin Jr (Joy), five sisters Helen (Terry), Alice (Keith), Marlene (Gary), Fidelas (Tim), Sharon (Steven), brothers-in-law Craig (Karen) and Leo (Donna), sisters-in-law Darlene (Tommy) and Denise (Boyd) and many nieces, nephews and friends that were dear to his heart and meant the world to him, especially his nephew Zachary. We would like to thank Dr. Squires, Dr. Ahmad and the nurses from the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation, Palliative Care Unit and the Community Health Centre in Witless Bay.
Visitation at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Tuesday November 26th 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday November 27th 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to take place from St. Michael’s RC Church in St. Michael’s on Thursday November 28th at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
Flowers are greatly accepted, or donations can be made in memory of Chris to a foundation of your choice.
Chris was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was always the life of the party and always had a big smile on his face.
