Our hearts are shattered to announce that our dedicated husband and father, Chris Aylward, age 56 years, peacefully passed on Saturday, May 28th, 2022. Just as Chris dealt with all experiences in life, he navigated a brave 18 month battle with cancer without a single complaint.
A lifetime of wonderful memories is etched in the hearts of his wife, Martina and his two beautiful daughters, Christi (Kyle Collins) and Kelly. His proudest accomplishment was being a dad. Quinn, our precious little fur baby, provided emotional support to Chris during his illness and she will dearly miss all the belly rubs from her dad.
Also mourning his immense loss is his mother Mary Aylward, his brother & best friend John (Philomena), his brothers Joe (Nora), Tommy (Ros), his sister Cynthia (Billy Jim), nephews Justin, Jeremy, Eric, Aidan & niece Holly.
Chris was also loved by his in-laws and he is being mourned by his mother-in-law Irene Dunn, brothers-in-law Ernie (Michelle), Gerard (Helen) & Mikey, sisters-in-law Evelyn, Linda (Ken), Patricia (Brian), Beverly, Lisa (Jerome).
Chris’ best buddies since childhood, the Kane brothers, Pete (Sharon), Frank (DA) & John Joe (Mona) & his brother John are left to continue their outdoor adventures without the main man, “MacGyver”.
Chris was predeceased by his father Tom Aylward (1993), sister-in-law Mary Lou Aylward (1993),
father-in-law Michael Dunn (1991), sister-in-law Michelle Dunn (2008) & brother-in-law Scott Dunn (2021).
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Thursday, June 2nd from 3 – 9 pm & Friday, June 3rd from 2 – 9 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 11 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Cape Broyle. Following mass, we invite everyone to join us for a Celebration of Life at the Cape Broyle Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions will be gratefully accepted towards an education fund for his daughters, which has been established at CCU in Witless Bay or via [email protected]
Sincere thanks to the wonderful nurses and doctors on 4NA Cancer Unit at the Health Sciences Centre for their professional care of Chris for the last 13 days. Chris knew he was in good hands and it gave him comfort knowing you guys were just a click of the button away.
“I had 55 wonderful years. I was blessed with 3 strong women. Please continue to be strong”
Chris Aylward, May 2022
