Donald Sullivan Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald J. Sullivan of Calvert, on June 30, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family. He was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to so many.

Donnie was born on September 6th, 1951. He lived most of his life in Calvert. After he retired from the fishery, he and his wife Liz moved to their cabin in Horsechops, Cape Broyle.

A Fishing Master Class I fisherman by trade, he loved hearing stories about the fishery long after he retired from it, right up until his passing. He could always be found busy at something, around his own yard or lending a hand to someone else.

He was predeceased by his parents Martin and Marie (Keough) Sullivan, parents-in-law William and Vera (Ward) Coady, sisters-in-law Sandra Blackwood Sullivan, Debbie Paquette, and Nora Boland, and brothers-in-law Aiden Coady, Harry Williams, and John Boland.

Leaving to mourn his treasured family; His devoted and loving wife of 48 years, Elizabeth (Coady). His children, Mark (Allison), and Tracy, and his grandchild, Jacob, who he was so proud of and loved with all his heart.

His siblings Karl, Loyola (Verna), Edna MacAlpine (Howard), Con (Eileen), Rowena Warren (Bob), Gary (Heather), Martina Reddick (Walter), Andy (Pam), Martin (Catherine), Blaine (Kim), Heather Carter (Trevor), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He loved all his family, and we feel so lucky to have had such an amazing person in our lives for as long as we did. We will surely miss his knack for telling stories.

His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of the Cancer Clinic, Community Health, Baltimore Pharmacy, and Palliative Care at the Miller Center.

Visitation will be at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Thursday, July 4, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Our Lady of the Cape Cemetery, Cape Broyle on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited back to Calvert Hall following the cemetery service to remember and share stories of Donnie’s life.
