Donald Robert "The Hawk" Hawkins

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dad Don (The Hawk) Hawkins on Sunday, April 6th, 2025 at Horse Chops, Cape Broyle, Newfoundland.

He was born in Brigus South where his love for Hunting and Fishing developed. Moving to Kitchener as a young man, he made a lot of lifelong friends. Starting a family, he then worked at Uniroyal and JM Schneiders for 30 Years. The Army, Navy, Air Force and the Wilmot Rod and Gun Clubs were the sources of many fun-filled adventures that he enjoyed. Missing his hometown he retired and moved back to the place he cherished. Once back in Newfoundland he enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and spending time with friends and family.

Don was predeceased by his parents; Robert and May (nee Crane) Hawkins, as well as his siblings: Regina, Harold, Tommy, Peter, Mercedes and Trixie.

Left with many wonderful memories while in mourning are his daughter Heather (Lee), sons; John (Wendy) and Norman also Norman's mother Pauline. His grandchildren who brought him many laughs: Christopher, Ashley, Zachary and his great granddaughter Chloe, sisters: Anita, Marlene, Matilda and Mildred and in-laws: Bren, Dorothy and Mary will also be left to mourn. As well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends from Ontario and Newfoundland whom he also cherished spending his time with.  

Resting at Ryan's Funeral Home, Bay Bulls, visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 9th, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Cape Broyle on Thursday, April 10th, 2025 at 10:30 am with interment to follow at Our Lady of the Cape Cemetery, Cape Broyle. Immediately following the interment, everyone is invited to the Cape Broyle Community Hall for a reception and a time of fellowship

Due to it being the season of Lent, no flowers by request, donations in Don’s memory may be made to Cancer research.
