Edwin Dowden Obituary
It is with broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, father, brother, father-in-law brother-in-law, son in law, uncle and poppy. Edwin Cecil Dowden of Bay Bulls, formerly of Greenspond, NL. Predeceased by his parents Thomas & Mae Dowden. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife Jeanette of 47 years. Together they raised 2 daughters, Lisa McDonald (Matthew), Wanda Sears (Rodney),
Edwin’s pride and joy were his 3 beautiful grandchildren Michiaiah, Jayda & Dawson who he was tremendously proud of, they were his world.
Also, leaving to mourn his brother Herbert Dowden (Sue), Susie Fifield (Melvin), Barbara Henstridge (Oliver), very special mother in law Annie Power, Edwin loved her homecooked meals so much, he will be missed dearly by Annie, also much gratitude to Patsy O’Brien for her endless support, as well many nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends especially very close friends Melvin McDonald (Vivian) who kept him going in Sunday breakfast, Kevin Carew who was always up for a good chat, also his lifelong friend and trouting buddy Pat Williams, and Victor Williams who was always up for playing a good tune on the accordion, many many memories!! Also leaving to mourn sister in laws Patsy O’Brien, Mary McCarthy, Diane Carter, Elizabeth Dinn (Leo) and brother in law Freddy Power (Marie).
We would like to thank the staff at 7E, St. Clare's Mercy Hospital and Dr. Morkar for their continuing care. A special thank you to Dr. Jamie Farrell for his continued care over the years.
Visitation at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls Saturday, January 9th from 5-7pm (private viewing for immediate family) and Sunday January 10th 2-7pm (public viewing).
Funeral Service will take place Monday, January 11 at 11am, St. Paul’s Anglican Church main road, Gould’s. (Invite only due to COVID-19 restrictions). Cremation to follow.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations to be made to charity of one’s choice.
