Our bright light has gone out. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 73.
"Evey" Corcoran of Trepassey leaves to mourn her devoted sons: Cordell (Heather), Denis (Bea) and Trent (Tammy). Nanny Corcoran, with unconditional love, to Justina (Chris), Brianna (Fin), Jack (Karley), Neil (Maddie), Miles, Nick, Toni, Bethany (Tyler) and Nathan (Abbi). Great Nanny to Finn and Atlas. Dear sister of Ken (Margie), Mary Ann (Jim), Max (JoAnn), Patricia (late Ted), Vince (Carol) and Trudy (Ernie). Sister-in-law of Nettie (late Bill), Peggy (late John), Ed (late Linda) Late Paddy (Jeannine). Special friend and sister-in-law to Hilda (late Ed).
Aunt Evey will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Jim, parents Josephine and Patrick Sutton, brothers: Gerard, Allan and Barry, mother-in-law Catherine and father-in-law Patrick.
Evey was an inspiration to anyone who met her... always an uplifting or wise word in times of struggle, a kind word in times of sadness, a sign of strength in times of grief, and always a laugh in the silly moments. Her smile, of which there was no short supply, brightened any room. Evey lived to entertain. Her home served as a gathering place where everyone was welcomed with open arms. Many a card game, birthday party and Christmas dinner were hosted at the Corcoran residence. No matter the occasion, Evey made sure you never went home hungry. If you crossed her path, you could be sure she would not forget you. She was always happiest when her house was full, while spending time with her grandkids, at the hockey rink or baseball diamond and when she was at the cabin.
Heartfelt appreciation to Patricia, Tammy and Heather for their compassion and kindness, especially in her last days. You all made a world of difference and you will forever have our gratitude. Special thank you to Father Peter Golden for years of love and support.
Many thanks to the loving staff of the H Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, 4 North A and Dr. Cuddy. Mom adored and spoke fondly of each of you. You made mom feel cared for and filled her heart with joy.
Evelyn has been cremated and will be laid to rest beside her husband, Jimmy. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Trepassey on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. Celebration of life to follow.
