Frederick J. Power Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved, Frederick James Power, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 2nd at the age of 74.  Predeceased by his mother and father: Mary Annie and Austin Power, brothers-in-law: Cletus O’Brien, Ed Dowden, Gus McCarthy, Thomas Carter, Frank Carter, Sammy Carter and Mikie Carter.  Sisters-in-law: Patsy Lescombe, Brenda Cahill and Margie Carter.

Freddie was a cherished father, grandfather, brother and friend, whose warmth and love touched the lives of so many.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his devoted partner, Marie Power, his two sons: James (Claudia) and Chris (Ashley).  Poppy loved his grandchildren dearly; Stephanie (Jonathan), Amber (Tyler), Cole, Mason and his special little buddy, Chester.  Also leaving to mourn are his sisters: Patsy, Elizabeth (Leo), Jeanette, Diane and Mary.

Freddie also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews: Tina, John, Jason, Shawn, Denise, Stephanie, Lisa, Wanda, David, Kim, Mary-Ann, Darryl, Kevin, Corey and Jennifer.  Special friends, Tony White, Robyn Garland and many more.

To know Freddie was to love him.  His quick wit and humor will remain legendary. When he got that little twinkle in his eye and that grin on his face, you just knew that something good was coming!

Freddie was a proud Bay Bulls man. He retired from Coast Hotels in Edmonton, Alberta in 2015 and made his way back home to Bay Bulls.  Freddie spent his retirement enjoying life his way. There was never any rush, only when five o’clock struck and he knew that Marie had supper on. Few people would be lucky enough to enjoy the love and friendship they have shared for 57 years.  His sons, Jimmy and Chris, have many memorable moments from early morning Hockey Practices to dancing around the fire pit to Brian Finn!  His proudest title was “Poppy”.   He left his grandchildren with many loving and funny memories that they will carry in their hearts forever.  They brought so much joy and happiness to his life.

Freddie has left a huge void in the lives of those that loved him, he will be dearly missed and loved forever.
