Gabrielle Norris Obituary
Our loving Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Saturday, January 30, 2021, with her children by her side. She fought a courageous four-year battle with dementia, which never took her strong will and tenacity to live.
She will be joining her loving husband, Peter Norris, who passed in 1974 and left her to raise 7 children, which she did with great strength and devotion.
Leaving to mourn, her four Daughters Diane Norris, Trini Smith (Calvin), Ekie O’Rielly (Ronald), Yvonne Melvin (Scott); her three Sons Peter Norris (Patricia), Craig Norris (Kelly) and Barry Norris; her Grandchildren Bruce Smith (Jolene), Kyle Smith (Jennifer), Chelsea Smith (Winter Niu), Patrick O’Rielly (Shauna), Peter Michael Norris (Laura), Gabrielle Norris and Gracie Melvin; her three Great Grandchildren Calyx Smith, Trinity Niu, Layla Ryan; her loving and eldest Sister Catherine Ronayne, (Harold deceased) and only Brother Stephen Carter Jr. (Dolly); Sister-in-law Donna Hodston (Dave); her many nieces and nephews whom she always loved to see; her many friends whom she played cards or Bingo with; and anyone who took the time to visit her or stop to have a little conversation with her along the way, and also her very devoted Home Care Worker for the past four years, Lorraine Sinnott.
Predeceased by her parents Stephen and Ethel Carter, Parents-in-law Peter and Ann Norris; Sisters Loretta White (Leonard), Genevieve Penton (Clarence), Philomena Chancy (Reginald); her Brothers- in -law Philip Norris (Betty), Ambrose Norris (Mildred), Sisters-in- law, Florence King (Al), Josephine Ryan (Edward) Daughter In-Law Catherine Norris and her beloved Grandson Zachary Melvin.
Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home in Bay Bulls on Tuesday, February 2nd from 2 – 9 pm. Funeral Service to be held on Wednesday, February 3rd at 10 am from St. Patrick’s RC Church in Witless Bay. Due to COVID restrictions and guidelines the Church Service is by invitation only.
Cremation to Follow.
