Joseph Carey Obituary
After a courageous battle with cancer Joseph Carey 65 years of age from Witless Bay, passed peacefully away at home in the presence of his loving family.
Joey was one of a kind, had a heart of gold. He was a loving husband, wonderful dad, a poppy, a brother, a friend to all. He loved life so try not to be sad. Think of all the good times and many laughs you had. He would do anything for anyone for those who knew him this was no surprise.
Predeceased by his parents Vince and Clara Carey, mother and father in law John and Josephine Whelan, Brothers Paul and Vince Carey, Brother in laws Adrian Whelan, John Whalen, and Joseph Whelan.
Left to mourn with heavy hearts his loving wife of 38 years Anne Marie Carey, His four children Amanda Aylward (Jeremy), Josephine Carey (Geoff), Margaret Carey (Will), and Paula Carey. Will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren Sara, Brooklyn, Rebekah, Parker and Alyssa. Brothers William Carey (Marie), Gus Carey (Mona). Brother in Laws Kevin Whelan (Wanda), Michael Whelan (Patricia), Gerard Whelan (Betty Anne), Dermot Whelan. Sister in Laws, Mary Carew (Donald), Carmel O' Rielly, Arlene Croft, Colleen Alleyne (Fred), Brenda Yard (Thomas), Rhonda Trainor (Doug), Barb Carey.
Also leaving to mourn with heavy hearts are special friend Mike Maloney (Carol), Cousin Maureen along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends
A special thank you to Dr. Mercer, Dr. Rogers and the pain symptom management team, the Dr. H Bliss Murphy Centre, Bay Bulls Medicine Corner, and Nicole Sharpe and the community health team for all your support over the trying times.
Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls. A public visitation for Joseph (in keeping with Covid-19 restrictions) will be held on Sunday November 22 from 3pm- 9pm.
A private family church service will be held at St Patrick’s R.C Church Witless Bay on Monday November 23 at 10 am, interment to follow at Holy Cross RC Cemetery, Witless Bay at 11am.
Donations in Joey’s honor can be made to Daffodil Place, Witless Bay Kinsmen Club or a charity of your choice.
