Kenneth Vickers Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth John Vickers on July 9, 2025 at the age of 71 years. He was born on March 7, 1954 in St. John’s. Kenny lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter and dedication to his family and community. Sadly, his partner, Marie Collins, passed away recently as well.

Kenny was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cindy, mother, Gertrude, and sister, Catherine. He is now reunited with Cindy, with whom he shared countless cherished moments; walking, driving and escaping to the cabin together.

Left to mourn his loss are his three beautiful daughters: Jeanine (Maurice), Sheena (Tyler) and Meghan (Blaine), his adored grandchildren: Victoria, Kate, Liam, Cody, Andi and Lainey, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his brothers: David (Kim), Darren (Cindy) and Alton (Yvonne), sisters: Bernadette, Eddie, Thelma and Gwen, a large extended family of Cindy’s brothers and sisters and his very special friend to the end, Howard O’Brien.

Kenny was a true outdoorsman, passionate about hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved cooking, sharing meals that brought family and friends together. A lifelong resident of Witless Bay, he raised his daughters there with boundless devotion. Known for his commitment to fitness, Kenny could often be seen running the town streets or playing hockey with countless friends. His community spirit shone through his volunteer work with the Kinsmen and as a basketball coach for the Mobile school system, where he inspired young athletes with his enthusiasm and kindness.

Cremation has taken place, a celebration of Kenny’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Vera Perlin Society, a cause dear to Kenny’s heart, in honor of his life’s work.

Kenny’s legacy of love, generosity and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest easy Kenny, reunited with the love of his life Cindy, forever at peace.
