September 11, 1954 – October 1, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved husband and dad, Loyola Mulcahy of Bay Bulls, NL. Loyola fought cancer to the end with the love and support of his devoted wife, Norma, and his much-loved children, Nathan and Brianna. Loyola was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Mulcahy, brothers Peter and Terry, and sister Theresa. Loyola is also predeceased by his in-laws Lorraine and Bill Williams and other members of their family.
Also left to mourn are family members John (Regina); Ken (Elizabeth); Shirley (Francis) Aspell; Rosemary (Baxter) Allingham; Annemarie (Keith Maloney); Helen (Eddie) Breen; and sister-in-law Patricia Furlong. He also leaves behind nephews, nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces. He will be mourned by special sisters-in-law Thora and Glenys; a great family friend, Anne Marie; and a large circle of friends.
Loyola loved the water and leaves behind the fishermen friends he thought of so highly. After his early mornings of fishing, you could also find him on the dance floor with adored dancing partner, Norma. If there was Irish music or rock and roll being played, he would travel the Southern Shore to have a “scuff.”
A special thank you to the doctors and staff of the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre and the Palliative Care Unit for the care they gave Loyola during his illness.
Visitation will take place at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Monday, October 4th, 2021, from 2 -9 pm. Funeral mass at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Bay Bulls on Tuesday, October 5th 2021, at 10 am. Inurnment to follow at Our Lady of Mount Loretta RC Cemetery, Bay Bulls. No flowers by request. Due to Covid restrictions, mass attendance will be by invite only.
