Passed peacefully away at Pleasant View Towers, St. John’s, on June 17th, 2025, Loyola P. O’Driscoll of Tor’s Cove, age 89 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his children: Lorraine, Wally (Ramona), Patricia (Joe Ashton), Terry (Triffena), Wanda (Noel O’Brien), Doug (Joan), Calvin (Debbie), Trudy (Tom Condon), Keith (Diane) & Lisa (Mike Mackey) and nephew Christopher O’Driscoll. Also leaving to mourn 23 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, as well as a circle of other relatives and friends.
As a child, Dad had a big extended family as his Mom passed away just 4 days after his birth. Friends, family and the community stepped up to help raise him. You could sure say “it took a village” to raise Dad! Dad always shared his fond and loving memories of his time with the Doyle, Walsh, Dunphy, Ronayne and Tobin families as well as various aunts and uncles. Dad always appreciated the help and care he received from the community members.
He was well known on the Southern Shore from the various businesses he had. Dad worked at various jobs while his kids were young. Dad was a heavy equipment mechanic and operator by trade but this never stopped him from trying something new. He owned and ran a grocery store, take-out/ restaurant, games rooms and bar/lounge and (along with his young sons) was even the community waste/garbage collector. If you had to opportunity to meet Dad you would always remember him.
His door was always opened to passersby and you could always get a hot a cup of tea or stay for the night if the weather was bad. The visits from all those up-the-shore folks made his & Mom’s day. His quick wit and storytelling would keep you entertained for hours and a deck of cards was always nearby.
Friends of his children were equally welcomed and the door was never locked (as most of his children’s friends knew).
Special thanks go out to the staff of 1 South East; especially Dave, Elaine and Heidi and to the staff of 3 South West, Colleen, Roxanne and Angel. Special mention to his homecare workers Jenny Sharpe, Wanda Rossiter, Madonna Byrne, Bernice Colbert and Emily Guest, all of which took special care of Dad while he was living at home.
