Passed peacefully into Eternity, surrounded by his loving family, at the Chancellor Park Palliative Care Unit, on Sunday, November 9, 2025 (following an undaunted battle with Alzheimer’s Disease), Martin Joseph Melvin of St. Michael’s, Southern Shore aged 88 years. Beloved husband of Alison,
Martin was predeceased by his precious son, Mario; parents; Michael and Frances Melvin; Parents-in-law; Joseph and Bridget Tee, twin sister, Margaret de Coste/Joseph, sister, Marie Hartery/Frank; brothers; Louis (Margaret) and Phonse. Martin’s other deceased loved ones include Alison’s cherished foster siblings: Michael Whitty and son, Roger, Betty Frizzell and Marie Whitty, as well as his sister-in-law, Loretta Tee and brother-in-law James Farrell.
Mourning their sad loss, are his children; Darrell Melvin and Alanna Colbert; grandchildren: Samantha Melvin (Dylan Ronayne), Adam and Josh Colbert; Lee Colbert/Hayley; great grandchildren: Jensen, Cade and Lainey, sister Rose Farrell, sister-in-law Agnes Melvin, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a circle of other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Friday, November 14th from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Kevin’s Church, Goulds, on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm with inurnment to follow at St. Michael’s RC Cemetery, St. Michael’s. A gathering will follow at the Community Centre, Bauline. All are welcome.
Floral tributes are respectfully declined. If so desired, a memorial donation may be made to the St. Michael’s Cemetery Fund or a Charity of one’s choice.
