Babe passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s after a brief illness on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 94 years of age.
She was predeceased by her husband Patrick (Paddy), parents; Hilda (nee Sullivan) and Billy Breen, brothers; Maurice and Reg (Margaret).
Left to mourn her passing are her daughter Olive Walsh of St. Albert, Alberta, granddaughter Lacey Walsh and great granddaughter Ella Rose Watkins both of Edmonton Alberta sister-in-law Edna Breen of Ferryland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Babe was well known for her walking, love of horses and for her involvement in the preservation of the Newfoundland Pony. She was a long standing contributing member of the Newfoundland Pony Society.
She was born and raised in Ferryland. Babe was a resident of Alderwood Estates in Witless Bay for the past ten years.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff of 4 South A at the HSC, especially to David, Alex and Herman.
At her request, Babe has been cremated and a private inurnment will take place at the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Ferryland on Friday, April 10, 2026.
If friends so desire, donation’s in Mary’s (Babe’s) memory may be made to the Newfoundland Pony Society or the Gathering Place.
