Matt finally found peace on Sunday, March 5th at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon after many years of suffering. Matt will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of twenty-three years, Teresa, step-children Leah (Adam), Jonathon (Coady) and Briana (Jason) and Bailey (Des), Emma and Jayse who affectionately called him Poppy Matt. Matt came from a large family consisting of Des (Kathleen), Myra (Loyola), Melvin (Brenda), Elaine (Keith), Sharmaine (Mark), Glenayse (Joe), Melinda and Wanda and his late brother Kerry’s wife, Barb.
He is predeceased by his parents Austin and Josephine St. Croix, his brothers Joseph and Kerry, his parents-in-law Nick and Kay Ryan, his brother-in-law Bren White and his childhood friends Wade Coombs and Gerard Perry.
Matt was a Marine Engineer by trade and enjoyed his travels around the world and missed “being on the water”. He will be remembered for his love for the Toronto Maple Leafs and we are sure every time the Leafs play the Montreal Canadiens, Nicky, Big Ronnie and Little Ronnie will have a beer or two as they recall the friendly bantering about the game the four of them enjoyed. Matt was an avid reader, he loved watching Jeopardy and solving Sudoku puzzles to pass away the time.
On May 24th weekend he so looked forward to having as many family as he could at our cabin in The Drook and most especially Bailey, Emma and their friends.
Matt will be remembered by his nieces and nephews, members of the Ryan family, his special Auntie Margaret O’Driscoll and her husband Harold and his godmother, Anna Coombs.
“Love you forever and a day.”
