Michael Louis Melvin 1961-2023
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Michael Melvin announce the sudden passing of a beloved man, partner, father, brother, uncle and friend after a brief illness on Sunday, July 30th 2023 at the age of 62 years old.
Michael is predeceased by his parents Louis and Margaret Melvin, His In-law John and Mary Carew, sister Joan and John Gatherall, Godchild Anne Marie Tee and nephew Anthony Gatherall
Left with fond and loving memories his partner of several years Ella Carew, his loving and devoted son Braedon Melvin (Karrie), sister Wynnann (John) Melvin/Cross, brother Peter (Margie) Melvin, nieces and nephews Justin (Rebecca), god child Rebecca (Ryan), Jarrett, Jessica, Abigail, Jerry and Joan Marie. Best friend and cousin Darryl Melvin, long time fishing buddy and friend Peter Williams, also Gwen Mercer. Along with the many other family members and friends, too many to mention but not forgotten.
Michael spent all his life since a young boy, fishing inshore and offshore. When he wasn’t fishing he could be found building boats with his father Louis and partner Ella. Building two boats in his lifetime the Labatt Blue and The Mountain Dew. Michael successfully completed his pilot license during the period of the Cod Moratorium. Michael loved anything outdoors weather he was fishing or hunting, cutting wood, or just spending time teaching his son all that he knew about life. Braedon was his pride and joy, his greatest blessing. He also loved his time with his partner Ella at the camper and their many adventures as a family.

Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls. Visitation will take place on Monday, July 31st from 6-9pm and Tuesday, August 1st, from 1-9pm Funeral mass to be held at St. Michael’s RC Church, St. Michael's on Wednesday August 2nd at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Cape RC Cemetery, Cape Broyle. Reception to follow.
