Nancy Ryan Obituary

Surrounded by her loving family and leaving behind a lifetime of treasured memories, Nancy Elizabeth Ryan, passed away on October 17th, 2025. Despite the challenging complications of kidney disease, Nancy faced her journey with unwavering strength and positivity, inspiring all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her father, Tom Harvey; mother-in-law, Maureen Ryan; aunts Helen Williams and Marg Churchill; brother-in-law Alfie Ryan and all other predeceased family members.

Leaving to mourn but celebrating her life are her loving husband, Philip; daughters; Kaitlin (Brad) and Karrie (Braedon); her mother, Marie; father-in-law, Philip and special uncle; Otto; siblings Michelle (Norbie), Stuart (Arlene), Gloria, Sean (Sherry), Rachel (Roddy), Clayton, and Thomas. Mom was also surrounded by the most loving friends, including her best friends, her sister Michelle, Janice Osborne, Rhonda Arsenault, Jackie Hanna, and Shirley Barnable. She is also fondly remembered by all of her special nieces and nephews and her three precious granddaughters, Emersyn, Jayde, and Mickayla.

Mom loved a simple life surrounded by those she loved. For 18 wonderful years, she was married to the love of her life — a journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Together, they built a beautiful life with two daughters and three gorgeous granddaughters, who were mom’s pride and joy.

Mom was truly the most genuine and loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and daughter. Her compassion, strength, and dedication to her friends and family were admirable.

From the moment mom and dad met at just 15 years old, their journey began—a beautiful story of love, friendship, and growing together—becoming each other's best friends. Together, they built a lifelong partnership of dedication through the joys and challenges of life, painting a picture of what true love is.

Mom loved life's little joys. For years, reading was her biggest passion; Friday nights in the shed, surrounded by friends and good times; girls’ nights with good food; relaxing drives with dad, sometimes with the music a little too loud. Mom’s happiest moments were when she was being silly, making her grandkids and everyone around her laugh. She had a natural beauty about her, with her smile and infectious laugh that could light up a room. To know her was to love her.

A special thank you to those who provided compassionate care for our mom in recent years, including Dr. Hurley; Sharon Aylward; Melissa Barnes; the dialysis nurses at the Health Sciences Centre; Emergency nurse Kristen Paul who continuously advocated for mom during multiple hospital visits and the nursing staff of 5 East at St. Clare’s.
