It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Neil O’Brien on April 12, 2019 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital at the age of 72.
Predeceased by his parents, Con and Winifred O’Brien and Sister Brenda O’Brien.
Leaving to mourn, with the most beautiful memories, his loving wife of 49 years, Janet (Maloney), his daughter, Mary Jane (Aubrey), his sons Dennis and Neil (April); and his much loved grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Adriana, Colin Lauren and Landon. Also leaving to mourn, his brothers, William (Bud) O’Brien (Janice) and Gerald O’Brien (Pat); Sister in laws Rita O’Brien, Sharon (John) Murphy, Linda (Kenny) Carter, and brother in laws, Dennis (Donna) Maloney and David (Brenda) Maloney. Also leaving behind a number of special family and friends.
Neil worked his whole life in the fishing industry and was highly respected by fisherman and plant workers. Neil lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed travelling and volunteering in the community playing the piano at special events. Neil’s happiest moments were spent on the water in his boat, The Humpbacker. Neil’s kind heart will greatly be missed.
Cremation has taken place. Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Monday, April 15 and Tuesday, April 16th from 2:00-9:00pm. Mass of Christian Buril to take place at Sts. Peter and Paul RC Church, Bay Bulls on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019 at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA.
