Robert Denine Obituary

Passed peacefully away surrounded by loving family at the Miller Centre at the age of 68, Robert Francis Denine of the Goulds. Predeceased by his parents John and Millicent(nee Baird) Denine, mother and father in law Bernie and Dorothy (nee Vickers) Mullowney, and brothers and sisters in law Bernie, Derrick (Roxanne), and Frankie, as well as other friends and relatives. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 42 years, Karen Denine RN(nee Mullowney), who provided exceptional loving care to him for many years during his illness, his daughters (who he was so proud of) Kelly (Jason) and Lisa (Nigel), and his pet cat Pepper; brothers John (Marlene), Gerry (Fran), Tony (Patti), Davie (Chelsea), and sister Barb (Rob) Evans; brothers and sisters in law Wade (Mary) Mullowney, Harold (Sharon) Mullowney, and Romona (Bren) Tobin; Special uncles and aunts Gord (Barb) Baird and Dave (Kay) Baird; and many other neighbours, friends, and family members. His family would like to express their thanks and gratitude for the care and compassion shown to Bobby by all the staff of 4SB Health Sciences Neurology, the H Bliss Murphy Center, the Palliative Care Unit at the Miller Center, his doctors and care givers- especially Dr Susan Macdonald, and all the friends, family, and co-workers who dropped by with kind words, made sure the family was fed, and offered the most valuable gift of all- their time and the comfort of their company. Bobby was an avid collector of diecast cars, with one of the larger collections in Newfoundland. Throughout the years he was the handy man for a lot of his family, installing flooring for so many people and helping with all sorts of odd jobs, and teaching his daughter Kelly how to do renovations on her own home. He greatly enjoyed visits from his daughter Lisa, who lives in England, and shared a passion for music with her. He never missed Country Gary and Cabin Party, and would play it way to loud in the house and could name every song and artist. His family once cooked up a scheme to slow down the number of model cars he was collecting (they were overtaking the house!) and bought him a 1985 Monte Carlo to cruise around in- he just used it to drive to Walmart to buy more model cars. Throughout his illness, he never uttered a word of complaint to anyone and always did as the nurses told him, with a remarkable amount of stoicism for someone who had such bad luck health wise. He will be forever missed by those who loved him.

Resting peacefully at Ryan’s Funeral Home on Tuesday July 4th from 2-9 PM. Funeral at Sts Peter and Paul RC Church, Bay Bulls, on Wednesday July 5th at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Mount Loretta RC Cemetery, Bay Bulls. While flowers are appreciated, we know Bobby would have appreciated donations to Nevaeh’s Lemonade Stand in his memory. “We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain, to walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again.” Love Karen, Kelly, and Lisa
